Abstract

Kings Cam stores everything only on your device. The app has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and does not send any data to us or third parties. The app communicates with the Apple App Store only for the optional purchase of Kings Cam Pro.

What Data the App Processes

Camera The app uses the camera to take photos and record videos. The facial recognition feature, which covers the eyes or face, runs entirely on your device (Apple Vision). No images or recognition data are transmitted. For more details, see the “Facial Data” section.

Microphone The microphone is only used when you're recording audio. You can turn off the audio in the settings. The optional voice distortion feature only shifts the pitch on the device.

Face ID. When you enable the app lock, the app requests Face ID from the system. The app never receives biometric data—only a “successful” or “unsuccessful” response.

PIN. An optional PIN is not stored in plain text, but as an extended hash (PBKDF2) with a random salt in your device's keychain. After several incorrect attempts, the wait time increases. The number of failed attempts is also stored in the keychain.

Recordings. Photos and videos are stored in the app's private storage, not in your Photos app. The files do not contain location data, device model, or capture time in the file header; the device itself still records when a file was created. As long as the iPhone is locked, the passcode protects the files (iOS file protection). They only leave the device if you share them yourself via the Share menu.

Settings. Your selections (for example, coverage area, self-extinguishing) are stored locally on the device.

Purchases. Apple handles the purchase of Kings Cam Pro. The app only receives information from Apple regarding whether the Pro version has been unlocked. We do not receive payment details or purchase history.

Face Data

What the app uses facial recognition for. Kings Cam detects faces for one reason only: to pixelate eyes or the entire face as soon as the photo is taken. To do this, the app uses Apple's facial recognition (Vision), which runs entirely on your device.

What facial data is generated? For each camera image, the app receives only the following information from Vision for each face it detects: a rectangle indicating the face’s location and size in the image, the angle of the head, and the position of the eyes as individual pixels. The app uses this information to calculate where the pixelation occurs.

What the app doesn't do with it. The app does not create any characteristics that could be used to identify or recognize a person (no biometric templates, no “faceprints”). It does not compare faces, identify anyone, or estimate age, gender, or mood. Face ID for the app lock is separate from this: In that case, the app only receives a “successful” or “unsuccessful” result.

Storage and Deletion. Facial data is stored exclusively in RAM as long as the camera is running. It is never written to a file, a database, the settings, or a backup. Each result is discarded no later than 3 seconds after the image to which it belongs. When switching between the front and rear cameras, when closing the camera, or as soon as the app goes into the background, all data is immediately discarded. One exception: If “Pixelate image without detection” is turned off, the app remembers the last detected position as long as the camera is open, so that the cover remains in place. Only the final photo or video, in which the eyes or face are already pixelated, is saved.

Third-party sharing. Facial data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to us, Apple, or any other third parties. The app does not include any third-party services (no analytics, no ads, no crash reports).

Face data (English)

Why the app detects faces. Kings Cam detects faces for one purpose only: to pixelate the eyes or the whole face while a photo or video is being taken. It uses Apple’s on-device face detection (Vision framework).

What face data is produced. For each camera frame, Vision returns, for every face found: a rectangle with the position and size of the face in the frame, the head’s tilt, and the positions of the eyes as individual points. The app uses these only to calculate where the pixelation goes.

What the app does not do. The app does not create any data that could identify or recognise a person (no biometric templates, no faceprints). It does not compare faces, identify anyone, or estimate age, gender or mood. Face ID for the app lock is separate: the app only receives „success“ or „failure“.

Storage and deletion. Face data is kept only in memory while the camera is running. It is never written to a file, a database, the settings or a backup. Each result is discarded no later than 3 seconds after the frame it belongs to, and everything is discarded immediately when switching between front and rear camera, when the camera is closed and when the app goes to the background. One exception: if „Pixelate without detection“ is switched off, the app keeps the last known position while the camera is open so the cover stays in place. Only the finished photo or video is saved, with eyes or face already pixelated.

Sharing. Face data never leaves the device. It is not sent to us, to Apple or to any other third party. The app contains no third-party services (no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting).

What Doesn't Happen

  • No data is transferred to our servers, no cloud, no account (purchases are processed through Apple)
  • No tracking, no ads, no analytics or crash reporting services
  • No access to your location, contacts, or photo library

Backups

Recordings are excluded from backups. They are not saved to iCloud or to a computer backup of your iPhone. If you switch devices or delete the app, the recordings cannot be recovered. The settings, however, can be included in a backup.

Deleting

You can delete recordings from the gallery at any time. Optionally, the app's cache will automatically clear itself after a certain period of time, as soon as you open or close the app. Nothing happens when the app is closed. If you delete the app, all recordings and settings will also be deleted.

Your Rights

Since we do not receive any personal data from you, we are unable to provide you with any information on this matter. If you have any questions, please email admin@kingsplace.shop. You also have the right to file a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Changes

Wenn sich die App so ändert, dass sie Daten überträgt, passen wir diese Erklärung vorher an.
